Excimer laser – Targeted laser treatment for skin diseases

👉 The Excimer laser is a special laser technology used in dermatology and aesthetic medicine that emits ultraviolet light and typically operates at a wavelength of 308 nm (nanometers).

How it works
The Excimer laser precisely targets the affected areas of the skin without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue. The laser light suppresses inflammatory immune processes in the skin, promotes normal cell function, and activates melanocytes (in cases of pigmentation restoration).

Main indications
The Excimer laser is widely used for the following conditions:
Vitiligo – restoration of pigmentation in depigmented skin areas
Psoriasis – especially for localized plaques (knees, elbows, scalp)
Atopic dermatitis – in some cases, to control localized inflammation
Alopecia areata – sometimes used to stimulate hair growth

Advantages
• Targets only affected areas, leaving healthy skin unharmed
• Short procedures (a few minutes)
• Fast results – noticeable improvement in some cases after 4–6 sessions
• Can be combined with topical or systemic treatments

Possible side effects
• Mild redness, dryness, or itching after the session (usually temporary)
• Rarely, small blisters or pigmentation changes
• In some patients, temporary light or dark spots may appear
